Vocational Services
TLC Vocational Services assists individuals in finding, maintaining, and being successful in Community Employment through Person Centered Planning. We focus on finding long term employment for each Participant that satisfactorily meets the needs of both the Participant and the Employer. By utilizing Person Centered Planning techniques, we build the job around the interests, experiences, preferences, skills, and needs of the Participant.
In general, an individual comes to TLC Vocational Services as a referral from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). The Participant's DVR Vocational Counselor, the Participant, and TLC Staff become the Participant's support team. Together the Team strategizes on ways to best find the Participant employment, and as importantly, how to maintain employment in the Community. Based on those strategies, TLC Job Developers make use of their community contacts and networks to find employment for the Participant based on their interests, skills, and experiences. As part of the process, a comprehensive assessment is completed by TLC Vocational Services staff. In some instances DVR will fund physiological testing or other evaluations as determined by the Participant's service plan.
The services offered by TLC Vocational Services include on the job training, job coaching and in many instances Work Experience. A Work Experience is an opportunity for the Participant to obtain paid experience in a community employment setting. Often times the Work Experience leads to paid, permanent employment with the Employer.
Eligibility for DVR funded services are based on criteria set forth by DVR. To explore the possibility of eligibility with DVR, potential participants are encouraged to contact their local county DVR office.
